Job Description We are looking for Computer Science / Computer Engineer trainees to join us at North Bethesda, MD to support portions of Projects that Axle Informatics teams are currently working at NIH.  Axle Informatics is a bioscience and information technology company that offers advancements in translational research, biomedical informatics, and data science applications to research centers and healthcare organizations around the globe. With experts in biomedical science, software engineering, and program management, we focus on developing and applying research tools and techniques to empower decision-making and accelerate research discoveries. We work with some of the top research organizations and facilities in the country including multiple institutes at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Responsibilities: - Assist in development of software using a variety of languages (ex: Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python, etc.) - Understanding of application security and identity management. - Working with web development with NodeJS and Angular. - Familiarity with OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.0. - Work with RESTful web services, Test automation, agile development and SCRUM. - Designing new features and performance enhancements for existing systems. - Participate in testing and fixing bugs in existing written codes - Gaining on-site work experience at various locations within the NIH. Overview Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail oriented Data Science Trainee to join our vibrant team.   Responsibilities - Good understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts and a passion for learning data analytics is a must. - Exemplary problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative - Working knowledge of one of more of these technologies: Python, Django, Java, HTML/CSS,Docker, Unix, Jupyter Notebooks, Angular and/or NodeJS - Strong analytical skills - Strong data cleaning and preparation skills - Superior attention to detail - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Evaluate open source and internally-developed modeling and analytics tools using real business data - Integrate internal data with external data sources and APIs to discover and implement actionable insights - Design and craft rich data visualizations to communicate stories to customers and company leadership - Some experience with Machine Learning and/or Deep Learning. Responsibilities - Help manage Human Resources support activities in the all areas of full life cycle recruitment (sourcing, screening and data management.) - Maintain company CRM - Execute Human Resources support activities in the recruitment process such as but not limited to pre-employment background and reference checks. - Fulfill Human Resources support activities through online ATS system with onboarding management and in preparation for orientation sessions. - Use sourcing tools and techniques to identify candidates such as online social networking, traditional networking, Boolean searches, and referrals. - Be proactive; actively engage with Axle recruiters, provide ongoing status of sourcing activities and candidates - Use candidate relationship management skills to identify, qualify, and maintain candidates. - Collaborate with hiring managers to evaluate position criteria, determine candidate requirements, and sourcing options. - Conduct thorough phone interviews, contribute to candidate selection process. - Ensure consistent application of Talent Acquisition processes and policies, and maintain accurate, auditable employment records.
