Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Medical Illustrator/Biomedical Visualization Specialist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

Axle is seeking a Medical Illustrator / Biomedical Visualization Specialist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) supporting our work at the Visual and Medical Arts Unit (VMA) at Rocky Mountain Laboratories, located in Hamilton, Montana.  Visual and Medical Arts provides an extensive range of biomedical communication services including:
 
  • Illustration
  • 2D and 3D animation
  • Journal figure preparation
  • Scientific poster design
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Image colorizing and enhancing
  • Video editing and production
  • Display graphics
  • Graphic design for brochures, certificates, publications, and other visual graphics

Job Description:
  • Accurately depict scientific research discoveries using visualization methods.
  • Produce biomedical visualizations, medical illustrations, animations, and graphic designs for publication in scientific journals, professional videos, and multi-media platforms.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and other visual information specialists to translate broad scientific concepts into details required to design, produce, reproduce, and or display original visual products or materials.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or medical field
  • Master’s degree in Biomedical Visualization or Medical Illustration is desirable
  • Experience with biomedical visualization
  • Demonstrate superior command of Adobe After Effects and Maxon Cinema 4D animation software
  • Exhibit strong skills in Adobe Creative Cloud software suite
  • Familiarity with best practices in medical/scientific ethics
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn photography skills
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Adaptive to changes in workflow and works effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable and efficient
  • Independent thinker
