Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
Prepare and QC RNA and DNA samples for sequencing
Perform routine maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of Sanger sequencer
Perform routine maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of Illumina sequencers
Perform routine maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of PCR instruments
Perform quantitative PCR assays
Assist in general lab duties, such as cleaning lab, stocking supplies, ordering reagents
Keep detailed records of experimental procedures
Assist customers with sequencing projects
Experience Required / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
Experience required with the following skills: Sterile technique, Pipetting, PCR, Cloning, Gel electrophoresis, Plasmid purification, Tissue culture and/or bacterial culture, Media preparation, Restriction enzyme digestion, RNA/DNA purification, and DNA/RNA spectrophotometry.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Familiar with Bioinformatics/Sequence analysis
