Overview

Axle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Scientific Program Manager to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Office of the Director (OD), Office of Science Management and Operations (OSMO), Office of Data Science and Emerging Technologies (ODSET), Bethesda, MD.

Note: Part-time position; six-month period of performance; work will be performed up to 10 hours per month (60 hours total).

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level advisory and consultatory services to the NIAID Office of Data Science and Emerging Technologies (ODSET), for the following activities:
    • Provide insight, expertise and historical institute knowledge to Program, which may assist them in determining if the candidates’ personal and professional values and beliefs align with and complements ODSET and the NIAID.
    • Assimilate and integrate the new OSDET Office Head into the organization through mentoring and coaching.
    • Assist program in the implementation and integration across the Institute through coordinative efforts (i.e., meetings, retreats, workshops, etc.) with ODSET and the Office of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology (OCICB).
    • Assist ODSET and OCICB with major milestone to develop priorities and roles in support of the Data Science and Bioinformatics Program.
    • Assist with the final draft of ODSET’s strategic plan based on NIAID’s vision.
  • Provide high level advisory and consultatory support services for the NIH Optimize Acquisitions Initiative.
    • Provide consultative advice on matters of continuity of vision for the NIH Optimize Acquisition initiative.
    • Assist Deputy Director for Science Management in assimilating and integrating as the Optimize Committee Co-Chair through knowledge sharing and technical advice.
    • Attend Optimize Project Lead Update Meetings and provide advice bi-weekly.
    • Contribute and provide input regarding project plans, recommendations and implementation efforts ensuring the goals for enhancing the program are met and supported across the NIH enterprise.
    • Participate in townhall meetings, workshops, focus groups and design thinking sessions.
