Axle Informatics is looking for a quick learning, detail-oriented student to be the next trainee in a high-performing, fast-paced informatics department at an amazing company.


Axle Informatics is a bioinformatics and information technology company that offers innovative informatics, technology services, and enterprise solutions to research centers and healthcare organizations around the globe. With experts in bioinformatics, software engineering, and program management, we focus on developing and applying informatics tools and techniques to empower decision-making and accelerate the discovery in translational research.

We work with some of the top research organizations and facilities in the country including multiple institutes at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). We are looking for a candidate to support the many ongoing projects within the NIH


What you’ll be doing:


  • Attaining hands-on experience with developing appropriate data models, track and evaluate patterns of outcomes, and apply relevant analytical and statistical methods.
  • Designs, develops and implements new programs and/or modifications of existing applications.
  • This position works with the other members of the Informatics team.
  • Producing visualizations of data and showcasing results in a meaningful way for senior decision makers to understand quickly with minimal to no explanation using tools/frameworks


Skill Needed:


  • Must be able to learn quickly and juggle multiple projects with moving deadlines.
  • Familiarity with any of the following languages: ASP.Net, C, C#, C++, CSS, HTML, Java, JavaScript, jQuery, JSP, OQL, PowerShell, Python, Servlets, SQL, VB.NET, VB6, VBScript, XML, XPath, XQuery, XSLT.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong orientation to quantitative analysis within stats-based tools, such as R, Python, MATLAB, etc.
  • Ability to code in SQL, R, & Python.
  • Understanding of Oracle and SQL Server Relational databases.
  • Should have experience in Machine Learning and Deep Learning Algorithms, in an academic or internship environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


  • MS, Post baccalaureate or PhD candidate in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Able to work full time.
  • Ability to work under independently, just as well as general supervision.
  • The ability to work in a team environment with changing priorities.
